Moses was an excellent child as the scriptures say, his parents saved his life against the commandment of the Egyptian government they had become enslaved by. He was raised in a culture of privilege, however, as soon as he became of an age to decide for himself he aligned himself with the people of God correctly perceiving himself as their deliverer. He was excommunicated for his initial impetuous efforts. And after having been given a long space to grow in grace and liberty to marry and raise a family he was drawn to the mountain of encounter.
Through the encounter with God and the arrival of his hebrew family members by the will of God, he received strength to journey back to Egypt as a deliverer. He arrived to a community who had maintained the practice of circumcision in physical covenant. While away, it seems as though he had not received a compulsion of necessity to have his own son circumcised while at home in their own culture, however as soon as he and his family had arrived in Egypt, the Lord strictly demanded an obedience to His covenant made with Abraham. In Exodus 4:24-26 God demanded by pain of death, that Moses circumcise his son, apparently he had not also prepared his wife very much in advance for that reality, she called him a bloody man as she threw the severed foreskin of their son on the ground at his feet.
In this we see the responsibility that was settled in upon him to align himself and his own household to the household of the Lord by an expression of the mutual covenant of circumcision in the faith of Abraham.
It is remarkable that Moses undertook for the people in his intercessions and likeness to Christ, and yet failed to sanctify the Lord at the rock in the second occasion whereby he was instructed to "speak to the rock". Numbers 20:8-11. Instead of a validation of eternal truth, in a moment of anger he ended up striking it again on the second occasion just as he had done previously on the first occasion in Exodus 17:6.
This was no small blunder on Moses part and yet the Lord in His faithfulness and determined will to bring forth, His beloved Son, from, for, and through the preservation of the priestly community, did cause the water to gush forth even on this occasion of disobedience as He had done in the first instance.
This instance of departure from the truth exacted a profound and deliberate response from the Father of Glory. Moses while yet in the zeal of his youthful vigor and capacity to lead the people for a good many years into the promised land to come was cut short by reason of a pronouncement of correction and early death. Deut 34:7 Because the pronouncement of an untimely death was so sharp, the accuser and enemy of humanity initiated an disputation even about Moses very salvation according to Jude 1:9.
We can know by the faithful witness of the three disciples with Jesus on the mount of transfiguration, that Moses is most certainly preserved in salvation through Jesus Christ. Luke 9:30-31

This instance remains as a recorded reminder, of God's zeal for His beloved Son to be rightly represented on earth by every believer as He is in heaven, and should give each of us caution and reverence for building well on the foundation upon which we are set in Him. 1 Cor 3:11,14
The Holy Spirit that is poured out from Heaven upon all flesh (Jews and Gentiles) in these last days, is the same Spirit of prophecy that moved in Moses and the prophets and in the Apostles who represented Jesus Christ in faithfulness throughout their generations. Hebrews 13:8
Let us be moved to rightly sanctify and worship God in the Spirit of Christ and in the Truth of Jesus resurrection, building ourselves up in our most holy faith, (Jude 20) and making declaration of His Kingdom from Heaven in our own generations faithfully with reverence and fear until the end.
