So the Jews replied to Him, “What sign of authority will You show us for doing these things? ”

Jesus answered, “Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it up in three days.”

Therefore the Jews said, “This sanctuary took 46 years to build, and will You raise it up in three days? ”

But He was speaking about the sanctuary of His body.

We like to tout ourselves as having a literal interpretation of scriptures but we so often miss the thing that God is saying whether we realize it or not because His WORD is Spirit and Life, and cannot be contained in our offtimes "literal" constructs no matter how many scriptures we have amassed and piled up to climb upon.
The Jews in their "literal" interpretation of what Jesus was saying missed it completely! They asked a question what sign do you give us? Jesus answered, “Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it up in three days.”
Jesus answered them directly with the truth of His resurrection to Millennial Kingdom and the building of the third and final witness Temple, exalted bodily and litterally, to the Third Heaven where Paul the Apostle was caught up to for his Apostolic commission. Each of the former two temples had represented heaven on earth.
The third Temple is the reality the former two were patterned after.
NOTE: This is a mystery, but the destruction of the two temporal witness temples, in favor of the THIRD, also reveals by necessity, the death of the two witness prophets, born into the generation of HIS RETURN.
The NEW JERUSALEM THAT IS, and was, and is to come, IS the only enduring JERUSALEM.
The form of His answer is made clear to those who believe and remain in faith to behold Him in the resurrection litterally as did the first witnesses of HIS IMMORTALITY, and for all of us, we perceive HIM by the eyes of our understanding being enlightened through their testimony and our experience of HIM as GRANTED TO EACH BY HIM, as the daystar arises in our own hearts.
Because, He said of the rest, in another place, the only sign that will be given to them and all unbelievers thereafter is that of the prophet Jonah, meaning that Jesus would be dead and buried for three days before releasing the Spirit and Power of His testimony among the Apostles, even as in the case of Jonah's message after coming out of the belly of the whale, that part revealed through His resurrection is reserved for believers alone, and remains, until His appearing to all, at His command and shout from heaven.
In this truth we see that even the Jews who rejected Him in the generation of His appearing and every unbeliever since, have been given this sign of the cross, and cannot deny His historical presence, death and burial, this is the only sign that is given to an unbelieving generation. Matt 12:39
As Jesus spoke literally of His bodily resurrection a literal interpretation by the Spirit and Power of His WORD, they were continually mystified because they demanded an interpretation by their own standard, language and hermeneutic, just as many who are yet today, circling around the (external circumference, and outskirts of the Church) base of the mountain of His glorious truth in their own confusions.
God the Father had authorized from heaven two previous witness Temples on earth built by the participation of the Jews exclusive from all other people, tongues and nations, and they had the WORD of God dwelling in the midst of them by His Holy Spirit.
That Spirit is Christ.
When the WORD declares He will come suddenly to His own temple, He is referencing His manifestation in the flesh, and fulfilling that scripture as Paul outlines in Hebrews 10:5 Text, The Father prepared a body for His beloved Son!
He fulfilled the same scriptures in two ways, He came in His flesh and He came to the model Temple of His authorized witness on the earth to thoroughly cleanse it and make it a household of prayer through faith in His everlasting promise. 1 Peter 2:5, Rev 21:19
He gave them approximately 73 years or one whole generation of transition to His Kingdom, from His birth to the destruction of the 2nd witness model temple in AD 70 which was at first built and sustained by His own authority through human hands before His appearing.
The second model and witness temple had become a Seat for Satan, after the death of John the baptist and Jesus Himself as two witnesses of the Third and final temple built by the Messiah Himself as the scriptures declare. Luke 10:18 Text, John 13:27 Text, Acts 26:18 Text, Rev 3:9 Text
There should be no doubt at present that Jesus Christ is MESSIAH IMMORTAL reigning in the Throne of His choice and as He ever intended by His own election in immortality from the beginning of creation.
How do some say he will now yet and again come to do what He rebuked Peter to the face for asserting? Matt 16:23 Text
Jesus has chosen instead exaltation to the Highest Throne in Heaven and to be represented by the Church ON THE GROUND, by the IMPARTATION OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT, made His bride by the betrothal at the cross, and sustained alive and remaining in a measured period of HIS Revelation to all of humanity, while as yet remained on earth, in the first state of mortality in body, by structure of living organism through His design and leadership until mortality is swallowed up by immortality completely and finally.

May the Lord give us grace, and open the the eyes of our understanding to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth with a proper interpretation of scriptures in Light of His appearing, death, and resurrection to IMMORTALITY, beholding HIM, High and lifted up enthroned bodily by His God and our God, John 20:17 Text, Acts 1:9 Text,

He is coming with the cloud of witnesses, of whom we are presently engaged, and seated through faith with Him in heavenly places, among ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands, even so Lord let the Spirit and the Bride say come! Come, Lord Jesus come! Enoch said it, Daniel said it, Peter said it, Jesus is doing it, the zeal of the Lord is performing it. Amen!!

Father of Glory You have revealed YOUR Glory in the face of Jesus Christ, You are the author and finisher of our faith, let no one who puts their trust in YOU, be ashamed, nor distracted away by the hour of temptation that all the world will face at the culmination of that lie against YOUR faithfulness in perpetuation. Deliver the faithful from that lie, that YOU are not who YOU ARE, or that YOU have left anything undone of what YOU promised YOU would do for everyone who believes in YOU with all their hearts, mind, soul, and strength.
Yes mighty God and Father of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, deliver everyone who calls upon YOUR HOLY NAME AS GIVEN EXCLUSIVELY TO JESUS CHRIST so the confusions erupting in contradiction against YOU and the faithfulness of YOUR promise of immortality that You promised to Israel, may be totally verified in them, and all who remain to the end, even as YOU HAVE MADE IT KNOWN, and WILL MAKE COMPLETELY MANIFEST TO ALL, AT THE END, through JESUS CHRIST YOUR ONLY BEGOTTEN AND EVER BELOVED SON, WHO IS SECURING FOREVER THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL, AND THE REDEMPTION IN THE BODY IMMORTAL.
For YOU will raise every human being from the dead to the foreordained judgement in the body of immortality, that YOU have afforded TO all THROUGH THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST, especially saving and preserving those who believe in YOU, and are loyal and faithful, to YOU ALONE, TO THE END, when death is conquered completely at YOUR COMMAND FROM HEAVEN, LET ALL CREATED THINGS BE SWALLOWED UP BY IMMORTALITY AS YOU EVER PURPOSED TO DO FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.
